Along Lloyd Creek, put the wetland question to the Florida DEP and the regional water management district before a date is set.

Does the Lloyd Historic District change what I can do on my property?
Possibly, and it is worth asking before anything is scheduled. Part of my land drops toward Lloyd Creek. Does that matter?
It can. Lloyd Creek is one of the surface waters Jefferson County names as significant, alongside the Aucilla, the Wacissa, Ward Creek and Lake Miccosukee, and the USGS monitoring site on it here reports a drainage area of 31.20 square miles. Practically, that means the low end of a parcel behaves differently from the upland — softer footing, slower drying, and a wetland question that belongs to the state program rather than to a contractor. Is there still Helene damage getting cleared around Lloyd?
It comes up. When Helene came through on September 26, 2024, fallen trees left stretches of I-10 near Monticello impassable and power was out across essentially all of Jefferson County — and the interstate corridor through Lloyd sat in the same track. Timber that came down in the woods, rather than across a road, is the part that waits, often until the regrowth around it has thickened.
