The ground across Liberty County
Terrain and vegetation set the scope of a clearing job more than anything else, and they change across a county this size.
- Steephead ravines cut into the Torreya Formation on the Apalachicola side of the county — short, spring-headed, steep-walled slopes, with Rock Bluff standing roughly 100 feet above the river.
- Longleaf pine and wiregrass hold the sandhills and pine ridges, with pitcher plant prairies and seepage slopes in the wet seams; this is fire-maintained ground, kept open on a prescribed burn rotation.
- Toward the Tate's Hell edge in the south, titi thickets grow dense enough to stop a walk-through, mixed in with wet flatwoods, wet prairie, baygall and basin swamp.

- Cogongrass has spread across the Panhandle and reached nearly every Florida county; UF/IFAS calls for fire, mechanical work and repeated herbicide together, so a mulching pass alone can leave it worse.

Timber is this county's economy rather than a sideline, so broken stands are not a small matter here. There is a steephead ravine on our tract. Can it be worked?
The rims and uplands around it, usually. Steepheads on the Apalachicola side of Liberty County are short, spring-headed and steep-walled, cut into the Torreya Formation, and the scale is real — Rock Bluff stands roughly 100 feet above the river. You do not put a mulching head on a slope face like that, and the seepage at the head of the ravine is exactly the ground you least want rutted. Mark where the ravine runs and where the head is on the quote request, and expect the scope to stop at the rim.
